Hello, Dear Customers! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce the release of Zender v3.9.4, which introduces the new android gateway app!

New Android Gateway App

  • Our team have completely re-written the android app. It is now a pure native app for android built using Kotlin. As you might not know, the old app was built on top of Cordova which made it impossible to implement some needed features.
  • The app can now "actually" run in the background, we have carefully implemented the app on how it interacts with the Android operating system.
  • The app can now report delivery status, the sent sms will not just show "SMS_SENT" in the code field. It might also contain the following: SMS_FAILED, SMS_DELIVERED, DELIVERY_FAILED, DELIVERY_PENDING, DELIVERY_UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN_ERROR
  • It is now required to make the app as default sms app. This is to make sure that every features like delivery reporting is properly handled by the app.

Update Instructions

Your zender must be on v3.9.3 for this update!

1. Download the update zip file from here:

You do not have access to download files from our server

2. Go to admin panel. Find the SYSTEM block then click the UPDATE button.

3. Select the update.zip file you downloaded from the first step then submit.

4. Click the clear Cache button in the admin panel.

5. Update your gateway app, please follow the new app builder documentation here: https://bit.ly/42seyh9

If you don't see the Zender panel in the sidebar, please logout from the customer dashboard then login again to refresh your session.

6. Update your WhatsApp server the same way when you install it, replacing existing storage files. (Make sure that your WhatsApp server is stopped before you update)   

7. Update your languages, you can get the new language strings from here: https://github.com/titansys/zender-languages

    By disabling auto read, the system will still be able to retrieve the received messages?

      Yes, but please be aware that the risk of getting banned by META is really high when auto read is disabled.

        Hi

        Can you explain why META get it banned ?  I understand autoread parameter will disabled read messages in zender panel, but in user's device messages are getting read.  so what is the reason for bann ?

        Please explain

    When creating an application, I get a mistake of the name of the domain name Zender.
    But the name is correct, see screenshots.

      Currently. The "Zender Domains" is not linked with the app builder. It seems that our system wasn't able to ping your site because of a firewall.

    looks like the new native android apps having many limitation, how if we want rebuild the apk with the older version (cordova) ?

      No limitations have been noted in this changelog. Transitioning to a native development path has proven to be one of our best decisions, offering significantly improved performance and a more maintainable codebase.


      Continued use of Cordova would have hindered further improvements to Zender. As of this version, Cordova support has been officially discontinued. The Cordova-based app can no longer be built.

    6. Update your WhatsApp server the same way when you install it, replacing existing storage files. (Make sure that your WhatsApp server is stopped before you update)  

    Deleting storage folder disconnects all WA accounts. How to avoid this? 

    New Android app is sending sms on my Android Pie device, but zender is showing queue, not updating sms status. Also app log is showing no clue, it only shows notification related logs.

      You don't need to delete the storage folder. The install command will not delete it.

      Regarding the app, please note that the new gateway app is currently at initial stage, these bugs will gradually be fixed in the following days.

      Please create a ticket in the support center and send us relevant details including the error logs from the system/storage/temporary/ folder.

        We dont have any old apk installed, it shows "App Blocked to protect your device" popup which is basically google play protect popup and apk does not installed

          You will have to disable play protect to get pass that. The reason why play protect is showing that is because of the SMS permissions, the new gateway app have permissions targeted to provide efficient sending of messages. The app also has MMS feature inside it but we did not integrated it yet to Zender.

          We will try to do some tests to see what permission is triggering the warning.

            We are using Xioami Device and seems there is no option to turn off Google Play Protection also we can not tell users to do this to use our gateway app, seems if we have realsed version of app then we will have a option to proceed to install app in google play protect popup.

              We think the warning is because of the RECEIVE_SMS permission. Unfortunately, if we remove this permission, the gateway app will not be able to track delivery status of messages.

              We might add a help window in the add device form for users to understand why this is happening.

              The user can temporarily disable play protect then re-enable it after installing the apk.

                Just for suggestion, if you build apk as released apk then even if the play protect enabled then also we will get a option "Proceed to install" and by clicking on this option we can install apk

                  Unfortunately, it's not possible to control the play protect warnings. There are no Android SDK features that allows to bypass it.

                    Okay hope we will get some improved version of gateway app soon as current version of gatway app is not usefull due to this play protect as users are unable to install it and its hard to tell every user to disable play protect service.

(I'm using Samsung)

                  You cannot use the built-in SMS app because the gateway app will now be the "default" sms app itself. We did this requirement to ensure reliable message delivery and background priority. We might change this in a future version but for now, our priority is to make the new gateway app fully functional and bug free.

    Hello! The new version v3.9.4 has a bug when connecting the WhatsApp account, the bug is in the binary. I had already commented on the day of the update…
    It is only giving the connection refused error

        Why is it not accessible?

        I have an old version of the platform running in production, and I want to replace it with the new version, so I am testing the new version in a local environment...

    1. Battery optimization request is stuck in a loop – even after selecting “Unrestricted”, the app keeps asking again. If we press “Later”, the request reappears repeatedly, which makes the app frustrating to use.

    2. The app name is incorrect – although we set the name as “MyApp” before building, the installed app appears as “Messages” on the device, which is confusing for users.
